Orton-Gillingham is an approach that benefits all students, but is particularly important for those who struggle with languages or dyslexia, which is multisensory, sequential, cumulative, systemic, direct, cognitive, and teaching literacy. It can also be referred to as the MSL–Multisensory Structured Language. It is the initial method which resulted from a partnership between the neuropsychiatrist and pathologist, Dr. Samuel Orton, and the psychologist Anna Gillingham, putting together neuroscientific knowledge and remediation concepts. In the Orton Gillingham approach, we offer tutoring in reading, writing, and Literacy, as well as training teachers, parents and other professionals who would like to use this evidence-based approach. OG based remediation focuses on the structural components of language, helping struggling students recognize patterns. This foundational remedial system takes students from struggling readers to successful readers using the world-renowned Orton Gillingham approach. One-to-one tutoring is especially helpful for children with dyslexia, or other specific learning disabilities that impact reading. If your child struggles with the written word, this is the ideal approach.
